Part homage to a poet and dear friend, these screen and photographic prints are unique multiples.
“…to me, they are more like paintings”
The setting is a NSW Blue Mountains waterfall, country of the Dharug and Gundungurra peoples. The film photograph is a starting point, like the artist’s study or sketch, in equal parts documenting a representative moment, person and place. What follows is the choice of (human) scale, a new medium and the action of painting for it’s own sake to explore image and mark making - pushing ink through a screen, the squeegee the brush, physical marks and painterly reactions on the print surface, and systematic colour choices.
