Lachlan Calvey

Lachlan’s work draws inspiration from the everyday - his experience of the places, people and events in life. Sometimes quite banal and sometimes quite extra-ordinary.

Often starting from sketches, drawings and photographs, Lachlan takes images through a series of questions that explore the formal qualities of art making. This typically leads to exploring through the production of multiples. Of particular interest is the choice of what is observed, the play between representation and abstraction, and not knowing the end result.

Lachlan is Australian born and lives in Sydney. He holds a Bachelor of Visual Arts (Fine Art Painting, Hons I) from Sydney College of the Arts, Sydney University, and a Graduate Certificate in Arts Management from University of Technology Sydney.
